I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that while representations have been received regarding the siting of a timber based industry in County Cork no specific proposals have been received. The authority and the Forest and Wildlife Service of the Department of Fisheries are engaged on a comprehensive study of the timber processing industry with a view to identifying how the maximum return can be attained from our timber resources. Consideration of proposals for timber based factories are being deferred until the results of the study are available.
