Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

100.

asked the Minister for Health (a) the total area of the site for Beaumont Hospital, Dublin; (b) the total cost of the site; (c) how this cost compares with the value of building land in the area; (d) from whom the site was purchased; (e) if full payment has yet been made; (f) and if he will provide full details of the conditions attached to this sale.

The total area of the site for the new Beaumont Hospital is approximately 39 acres. The purchase price is based on advice given to my Department by the Valuation Office as a reasonable price for the site in view of the market prices obtaining at the time of the negotiations for the sale.

Apart from the usual conditions of sale, special conditions relate to such matters as rights of access to the site, boundaries, services and so on. The conditions also specify that the lands shall not be used for any purposes other than that of a hospital complex and buildings, services and facilities auxiliary thereto or connected therewith.

It would be contrary to normal practice to disclose the financial details of the purchase of the land in this case.
