Vol. 303 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Federated Hospitals.

308.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the future of Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital, Dublin, and the other federated hospitals.

It is proposed that the services at three of the Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals—Sir Patrick Dun's, Mercers and Baggot Street—will be transferred to St. James's Hospital when that hospital has been developed. Services at Dr. Steeven's Hospital will continue to be provided in conjunction with St. James's.

Present thinking is that the proposed new hospital at Tallaght will absorb the Meath and Adelaide Hospitals.

Negotiations are taking place between the authorities of the National Children's Hospital, Harcourt Street, and Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, on the possibility of an amalgamation of the two hospitals.

The implementation of these proposals is being considered in continuing discussions between the federation and my Department.
