It is presumed that the Deputy is referring to the recent bye-law which relates to the control of fishing for coarse fish in freshwater. While the bye-law prohibits the taking or killing of coarse fish other than by rod and line, the rights enjoyed by fishermen on Lough Ree to use draft or drum nets for the capture of coarse fish between 1 October and 31 January of the following year will not be affected.
