Applications were received from 3,574 flockowners in Country Mayo in 1977 for grants under the scheme of headage payments on hogget ewes and mountain lambs in disadvantaged areas. Grants amounting to £521,441 have already been paid to 3,547 applicants. The remaining 27 applications are under investigation and payments will be made as soon as possible where the flockowners in question are found to be eligible for grants under the terms and conditions of the scheme.
