Vol. 303 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Joinery Works.

29.

andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the steps his Department are taking to have the business at Messrs. O'Rourkes Joinery Works, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare, re-established, in view of the loss of employment caused by the recent fire at those premises.

I understand that temporary premises have been obtained and that full employment has been resumed.

When was employment resumed? It was a serious loss to the area that this, its only industry, was put out of operation.

The IDA understand from information received from the county development officer who was in touch with the firm that the company have reached agreement with a former joinery manufacturer in Blessington regarding the use of his premises and that the men are now working at that premises.

This must have happened within the past week.

I understand that is so. We are delighted that the men are back at work.
