Vol. 303 No. 5

Written Answers. - Timber Exports.

232.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he is aware that timber from Donegal forests is being exported in a non-processed state, while small timber industries in Donegal cannot obtain supplies.

I am not aware that small timber industries in County Donegal are unable to obtain suitable supplies for the reason suggested. A number of advertised lots of timber (approximately 200,000 cu. ft. in all) are at present still available for sale in seven different forests in the county.

Several of the lots are considered suitable for small timber industries such as stake and post manufacture or box-making.

Any interested parties are welcome to submit offers for the purchase of any of the lots in question to the timber marketing section of the Forest and Wildlife Service from which further details can be obtained, or to make inquiries regarding the availability of timber for sale locally from any of the foresters-in-charge in County Donegal.
