Vol. 304 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 3 and 4. Private Members' Business will be from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 16 by agreement.

There is a motion on the Order Paper in my name and those of my colleagues, Deputy O'Donnell, Deputy P. Barry and Deputy Kelly, in which we gave four days' notice as required by Standing Order 139 (1). I want to inform the House that we do not intend to move that motion pending the outcome of the talks which have taken place since the motion was put down.

The Deputy's statement will be noted.

We wish to give notice that we will raise the matter under Standing Order 139 (2) if events should justify that.

Might I ask the Tánaiste when it is proposed to circulate the Finance Bill, 1978?

I am not in a position yet to tell the Deputy that.

Will it be before the Easter Week recess?

That is unlikely.

Is there not a statutory date by which it must be circulated?

The statutory date applies to the Second Stage.

But not to the Bill's circulation.

Not as I understand it.
