Substantial assistance is already available for basic investments under the farm modernisation scheme, and taking account of the limited financial resources which can at any time be allocated from the Exchequer the extension of grant-aid to cover equipment such as generators could not be justified. It is considered that the provision of this type of equipment should be within the competence of the farmer himself.
