(a) As records in relation to applications have not been kept on a county by county basis, the information sought in the first part of the question is not available.
(b) The majority of applicants for £1,000 new house grants in County Mayo are providing their own houses and in such cases the houses must have been commenced after 26 May last. When a house is completed, occupied and ready for inspection, the applicant should notify my Department and payment is then made, if in order, following inspection. While no grants under the new scheme had been paid in the period ending 31 December 1977, a number have been paid since.
