Vol. 304 No. 10

Written Answers. - Unemployment Benefit.

320.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why the employees of a company (name supplied) which went into receivership have not yet been paid unemployment benefit.

The records of my Department indicate that claims for unemployment benefit were received from seven persons who were employees of the company in question at the time it went into receivership. The claims of four of these persons were allowed without delay, but it was not possible until fairly recently to give decisions on the unemployment benefit claims of the remaining three as there were insufficient contributions on their insurance records to enable them to qualify. Payment has been made to two of the persons concerned and arrangements have been made for payment to the third person.
