The approved financing arrangements for the improvement works to be carried out at Rosslare Harbour provide for a State grant of 30 per cent of the expenditure subject to a maximum grant of £1.125 million, the balance to be raised by way of borrowing by CIE from non-Exchequer sources.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 494 and 495 together.
CIE are at present preparing detailed drawings for the Rosslare Harbour Improvements Scheme for my approval. It is the board's intention to invite tenders for the carrying out of the entire scheme on the basis of the approved drawings.
There is no provision at this stage for the carrying out of any preliminary works in advance of the scheme proper. The order in which the works will be undertaken and the date of commencement will be determined in the light of tenders received, but the present expectation is that work should commence about September next.
