Vol. 305 No. 5

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

381.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state in relation to the Broadford estate, Ballinteer, Dublin, (a) the number of outstanding applications for telephone service; (b) the date of the first such application; and (c) when service will be supplied.

(a) 70; (b) October 1974; (c) Cabling to serve the applicants has been delayed as a result of the industrial action taken by the Irish Post Office Engineering Union. I regret that it is not possible to say at this stage when service will be provided.

382.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when full telephone service will be restored to a firm (details supplied) in Dublin.

Some telephone lines to the firm in question are affected by a fault in an underground telephone cable. Faults in underground cables in the Dublin area are not being attended to at present because of the current industrial action by the Irish Post Office Engineering Union. I regret that it will not be possible to restore service on the faulty lines until the industrial action has ended.
