The extent to which service given by members of religious orders on the staff of capitation national schools should be reckonable for pension purposes is the subject of a claim lodged under the conciliation and arbitration scheme for teachers and currently under consideration by the conciliation council. The scheme provides that matters within its scope will be dealt with exclusively through the machinery of the scheme. While I am awaiting a recommendation from the conciliation council on the claim it would not be appropriate for me to make a comment in relation to the subject matter of this claim.
