I am having the information regarding the amount requested by local authorities compiled and will forward it to the Deputy as soon as possible.
Allocations totalling £19.960 million have been notified to local authorities for major water and sewerage schemes and new small schemes. This leaves a balance of £9.275 million, the bulk of which has been earmarked for new major schemes for which loans had not been sanctioned at the time the initial allocations were being determined. Local authorities are to advise my Department when they start work on these schemes and to submit an estimate of expenditure on the basis of which an additional allocation will be made as required.
Provision has also been made in this balance for the financing of contributions by local authorities to group water schemes, supplementary water and sewerage grants finance, commitments carried forward on the small schemes programme and supplemental loans on schemes in progress or completed.
