The only such proposal of which I am aware is one by Dungarvan Urban District Council which was approved in principle some years ago by my Department. The urban council have now informed my Department that they intend to reactivate this project.
The financial assistance from my Department for swimming pools provided by local authorities takes the form of subsidy at the rate of 50 per cent of the annual loan charges on loans raised for the purpose. Any such loan proposal which may be submitted by Dungarvan Urban District Council will be considered in the light of the capital available for swimming pools generally and the demands on this capital.
