Vol. 307 No. 9

Written Answers . - County Donegal Career Training Course .

166.

asked the Minister for Labour if it is intended to hold a special career training course in any of the Donegal vocational schools to assist school leavers; and if students will be paid during the course.

: Career training courses in the form of pre-employment courses were conducted in two county Donegal vocational schools, namely Milford Vocational School and Raphoe Vocational School, in the academic year just finished. The students who participated in these courses were not paid during the course.

Approval has been given for similar courses to be run in nine centres in County Donegal during the coming school year commencing in September 1978, subject to sufficient students being available to participate in them.

AnCO intend holding career training courses in Donegal during the summer recess for young persons who have left the education system. The extent of the courses will depend to a large degree on the number of schools which express an interest in being involved and the number of suitable applicants available. In the case of these courses the participants will be paid an appropriate allowance.
