Vol. 309 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonakilty Agricultural College.

16.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the demand for agricultural training, he will consider extending Clonakilty Agricultural College, County Cork, to cater for additional students.

I am aware of the increasing demand for agricultural training and I am having the whole question of the adequacy of the existing level of accommodation at agricultural colleges, including Clonakilty, examined. I might mention also that investment in additional residential accommodiation at agricultural colleges in western areas is included in the programme of additional structural measures for the development of agriculture in the west of Ireland which I recently submitted to the EEC Commission.

Has the Minister any figures for the number of applicants refused admission to agricultural colleges because of lack of accommodation in the past year?

I do not think the Deputy asked for that information.

I do not have the information that Deputy Walsh is looking for. I have the number of admissions.
