However statistics are available regarding the number of medical cards current in County Cork on the last day of each quarter from March 1974 to June 1978, the latest date for which figures are available, together with the number of persons and the percentage of population covered by medical cards. This information is given in the following table.

The total number of medical cards withdrawn or cancelled in County Cork in 1977 was 14,703. There were 6,318 medical cards withdrawn or cancelled in the period from January to June 1978, the latest date for which figures are available.
