I am informed by the IDA that the Beecham Company considered a number of alternative sites for their project in recent months, when it became clear that there would be protracted delay in resolving the objections to the Ballycasey site.
However, Beechams decided that undue delay could be caused to their expansion plans by locating on an alternative site in Ireland as they would have had to go through the planning process again ab initio.
They decided, therefore, to increase capacity at their existing plants abroad.
