Information regarding the numbers of stamps sold at post offices throughout the country is furnished to my Department by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs on a quarterly basis. This information relates only to the stamps sold in three-monthly periods ending March, June, September and December in each year. In the circumstances it is not possible to furnish information for the exact periods sought by the Deputy. However, the total number of insurance stamps sold in the year ended 30 September 1977 was 37,900,000. Similar information in relation to the year ended 30 September 1978 will not be available for a further five weeks.
