Vol. 309 No. 8

Written Answers. - Curragh Sheep.

417.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the sheep grazing on the Curragh, County Kildare have no drinking water; if he is aware that this is causing concern in the area; and if his Department will provide drinking troughs at certain points, as a matter of urgency.

The provision of drinking water for sheep grazing on the Curragh of Kildare is the responsibility of the owners of the sheep. My Department have granted permission to Kildare County Council to provide drinking troughs for sheep at a number of locations on the Curragh. I am informed that the council have communicated with the Curragh Sheep Owners' Association about the financial and other conditions which would apply.
