Vol. 310 No. 1

Written Answers. - New Industries.

343.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the proposals for the provision of an industry in Rosscarbery, County Cork.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a similar question on 8 June 1978. I would add that the Industrial Development Authority are at a preliminary stage of negotiations with an overseas promoter for an industrial project for Rosscarbery with an employment potential of 20.

344.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if it is intended to establish an advance factory in Portlaw, County Waterford; if the IDA have any plans to attract new industry to the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority have no plans at present to construct an advance factory at Portlaw,

County Waterford. Whilst currently there are no new industrial projects under negotiation for Portlaw, the IDA will intensify their effort to secure a new industry for the town.

Portlaw is in the catchment area of Waterford city where seven new projects with a combined job potential of 1,750 have been negotiated by the IDA during the past 12 months or so.
