My statutory responsibility in regard to the provision of local airstrips is limited to determining the suitability of proposed sites and to the issue of licences where appropriate. Technical advice is given by officers of my Department where requested. There are no funds at my disposal for the development of such airstrips.
I am aware of the intentions of local interests in the Waterford area to establish a local airstrip. My Department have given technical advice in the matter.
