asked the Minister for Labour the number of young men and young women placed to date under the auspices of the Work Experience Programme since September 1978; the number of young men and women who have withdrawn from, or completed the programme; the number who have withdrawn to take up permanent employment; and the numbers placed in manufacturing industry, construction industry and the service sectors.

Nine hundred and seven young men and 979 young women entered the Work Experience Programme up to 19 January 1979. They were placed as follows:

As the programme provides for a work experience period of six months the first participants will not complete their programme until the end of February at the earliest. However 262 participants, 145 boys and 117 girls. have withdrawn from the programme so far. One hundred and fifty-four of these left to take up permanent employment as follows:
