Vol. 311 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drinagh (County Cork) Sewerage Scheme.

237.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the sanction and financial allocation for the sewerage scheme in Drinagh, County Cork, in respect of which there has been a full submission of documents by the county council.

The local authority's preliminary proposals for this scheme are under consideration in my Department but the project must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time. Having regard to the priority of the scheme and the need to conserve the capital available for the schemes of highest priority, I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to approve the scheme. The question of finance for the scheme will not arise until it has been fully planned and approved.
