Vol. 311 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newtown (Galway) National School.

22.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the continuing involvement of parents and pupils in Newtown national school, County Galway, and if he is also aware (1) of representations made to him by members of the Government in favour of keeping the school open and the names of the members of the Government and other TD's who so made representations, (2) that a retired national teacher, who is a public representative on behalf of Fianna Fáil is presently teaching the pupils, (3) that the school is in a Gaelic speaking area, and (4) that the house building programme for the area would indicate the viability of the school in the medium term.

I am, of course, aware of all the relevant factors concerning the former Newtown national school.
