Following the publication of the report of the committee on non-accidental injury to children, a memorandum was widely circulated among health agencies and health personnel in March 1977 bringing the attention of all those concerned to the problem and providing guidance on the identification, management and prevention of non-accidental injury to children.
My Department are currently reviewing the procedures outlined in the memorandum. There is general agreement among health board personnel that the procedures outlined are effective.
