Waterford Corporation recently submitted to me a report prepared by their consulting engineers on the structural condition of Redmond Bridge, which is under repair, recommending that a load limit be placed on it. This report is being examined in my Department and is the subject of discussions with the corporation at engineering level.
The corporation's proposal for a high level bridge are being considered in conjunction with the report on the condition of Redmond Bridge and the possible need to provide an early replacement for that bridge. I will notify the corporation of my decision in the matter at the earliest practicable date.
