Vol. 313 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cabinteely (Dublin) Community School.

304.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that the plans submitted by the Department of Education in June 1978 for a community school in Cabinteely included a site for a proposed sports hall which was unacceptable to the planning department of Dublin County Council; if his Department have submitted fresh plans to the council with a view to receiving approval for a site for a school hall so that work can go ahead without delay if and when funds become available; and, if the necessary submission has not taken place, he will instruct the appropriate section of his Department to carry out whatever work may be necessary in order to ensure that a suitably amended proposal is presented to the planning department as soon as possible.

The statement in the first part of the question is not correct. Plans for the Community School in Cabinteely submitted to Dublin County Council in July 1976 included a site layout showing possible siting of a future sports hall. The council asked for details and were informed that there were no plans at the time to provide a sports hall. If it is decided to erect a sports hall at a future date the necessary plans will be forwarded to the planning authorities at the appropriate time.
