asked the Minister for the Environment the legislation, if any, which would permit a local authority to offer rating concessions with a view to inducing industry or other type of developments into city areas.
Written Answers. - Rating Concession.
198.
The only rating concessions which are specifically designed for industrial premises and which would seem applicable to certain urban areas are those provided by section 9 of the Undeveloped Areas Act, 1952, as amended, and section 3 of the Industrial Development Act, 1972. These allow local authorities, at their discretion, to grant a two-thirds remission of rates for ten years to new industrial premises provided in designated areas—within the meaning of the Industrial Development Acts—by, or by means of a grant from, the Industrial Development Authority.
