Vol. 313 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

229.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the details of the record of stamps paid and credited for social welfare purposes for an individual (details supplied) and if the individual will be entitled to maternity benefit on the birth of her second child, on the basis of her insurance record.

The lady concerned had 47 credited contributions in the contribution year from July 1977 to June 1978, which is the contribution year governing her recent claim for maternity benefit. She is thus qualified for payment of maternity allowance and cheques in respect of seven weeks' allowance from 29 January 1979 have been prepared. They cannot be sent to her owing to the present disruption of the postal services but they are available at my Department's distribution centre, 157/164 Townsend Street, Dublin 2. If she cannot collect them herself it is open to her to authorise someone to collect them on her behalf.

When she furnishes a certificate of confinement to my Department payment of the balance of the maternity allowance will be made as it falls due.

A maternity grant will also be paid.

230.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare to arrange to have disability benefit paid to a person (details supplied).

A cheque in payment of disability benefit from 27 January to 23 March 1979 in respect of the person concerned has been forwarded to the community welfare officer, Newmarket, from whom it may be collected.
