Vol. 313 No. 3

Written Answers. - Kerry Sewerage Schemes.

250.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to make the necessary funds available for the development of the Castlemaine, County Kerry sewerage scheme.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for the overall water and sewerage programme and the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority on this scheme, preliminary proposals for which are at present under consideration in my Department.

The question of finance for the scheme will not arise until the scheme has been fully planned and approved.

251.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he received proposals from Kerry County Council to extend the Fenit sewerage scheme, Tralee to the cottages at Tanlaught Strand, and if so the present position of the proposal.

Proposals for two extensions of Fenit sewerage scheme to service this area were recently submitted to my Department and are at present being examined. I hope to convey a decision thereon to the local authority in the near future.
