Vol. 313 No. 3

Written Answers. - Replaced Schools.

263.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to each school identified in answer to Question No. 11 of 21 March 1979, its exact address and the name of its manager; if it has already been replaced; and, if it has not yet been replaced, the date by which it will be replaced; the cost to public funds of the replacement in each case; and the total cost of each replacement.

I did not identify the schools referred to in answer to Question No. 11 of 21 March 1979 as it is not the practice in relation to the type of information sought to name the schools concerned.

I am in a position to give an analysis of the information on the lines requested by the Deputy, as follows:

Three secondary schools have already been replaced. To date the cost to public funds amounts to £520,000 and the estimated total cost of the projects including professional fees and equipping is £791,000.

Nine secondary schools are in course of being replaced. The corresponding figures are £1,610,000 and £4,226,000.

Two vocational schools have already been replaced. To date the total cost to public funds is £1,142,000.

Eight vocational schools are in course of being replaced. The corresponding figures are £2,252,100 and £6,151,000.

All schools which are in course of being replaced are expected to be completed not later than the end of 1980.
