Vol. 313 No. 3

Written Answers. - Unemployed Teachers.

268.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that an individual (details supplied), although a fully trained national teacher, has been unable to secure employment despite applying for positions in all areas of the country; and if he will indicate what course of action she should now follow; and if he will arrange to have supplied to her a list of the sanctioned vacancies currently on file at his Department.

I am not so aware. As the Deputy knows, application by a particular person for a teaching post in a national school is a matter for the board of management of that school and is not one in which my Department have any function.

The individual referred to by the Deputy should continue to apply for teaching positions according as they are advertised. The Official Report of 31 January 1979, Volume 311, Columns 111-115, contains a list of posts which were vacant on that date and the Deputy is, no doubt, in a position to supply the individual concerned with particulars of that list.
