Vol. 313 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballycotton (County Cork) Harbour.

261.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, in view of the serious damage caused to the harbour at Ballycotton, County Cork, during recent storms, if he will make finance available to restore the breakwater and raise the harbour walls in order to protect the valuable fishing craft and the lifeboat moored in the bay.

My Department have asked the Office of Public Works to arrange as a matter of urgency for the inspection of the pier and backwater at Ballycotton and to furnish an engineering report. Until that report is received and examined in my Department I cannot say what State grant, if any, can be made available in the fisheries interest.
