Grants totalling £1,599,312 have recently been approved by the EEC Commission for the financing of two marineculture projects (£12,985) and the purchase of 34 fishing vessels (£1,586,327).
Decisions on applications in respect of a further three mariculture projects and eight fishing vessels which could not be financed on this occasion because of lack of funds are expected in July.
EEC aid in 1979 for harbour improvements is expected from the European Regional Development Fund in respect of fishery harbour works at Killybegs, County Donegal and Dromatoor, County Kerry. These projects were, in accordance with the fund regulations, submitted on a group basis and, as stated by the Minister for Finance in reply to a previous question on 29 June 1978, it is not feasible to specify the amount of fund aid approved or paid in respect of individual projects in such cases.
