asked the Minister for Social Welfare if sick and disability benefit could be paid in Dún Laoghaire to persons so entitled residing in Sallynoggin and Dún Laoghaire.

Cheques in payment of disability, injury, disablement and maternity benefits for persons residing in Dublin city and county are available for collection at the emergency distribution centre at 157-164 Townsend Street, Dublin 2. As this office is in the centre of the city it is regarded as the most convenient centre for the majority of persons in the area having regard to the availability of public transport.

In view of the additional demands on the staff of my Department arising from the disruption of the postal services it is not feasible to open additional centres for the distribution of the cheques. However any person who is unable to attend at the appropriate existing centre may authorise another person to collect the payment on his behalf.
