Vol. 314 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cavan VEC Employee.

13.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that an employee of County Cavan Vocational Education Committee from 1964 to 1978 (details supplied) has not received any pension or gratuity, and if he will arrange for the payment of a reasonable pension and/or lump payment in his case.

I have no function in regard to the superannuation of former officers and servants of vocational education committees: the sole responsibility in this matter is imposed, by law, on the committees.

(Cavan-Monaghan): Would the Minister give favourable consideration to any submission made to him by the committee to provide a pension or gratuity for this man, who is a very deserving case?

The Minister to whom there is a right of appeal in matters such as this is the Minister for the Environment and not the Minister for Education.
