My Department are in continuing discussion with Dublin County Council, Dublin Corporation and representatives of Clonliffe Harriers Club about the development of sports facilities at Santry Stadium. I recently indicated to Dublin County Council and Dublin Corporation that, subject to their agreement to contribute in equal share, I am prepared to put up one-third of the cost of a modern athletic track at Santry Stadium, provided that it would be available for public usage, and that the expressed needs of Clonliffe Harriers in the management affairs of the Stadium would be ensured.
These bodies are considering the proposal and I hope to be in a position to invite tenders for the track at an early date.
