Outside contractors were engaged for this work. In the case of jobs of this magnitude it is standard practice to invite the painting trade generally by public advertisement to tender for the contract. The painting staff employed directly by the Office of Public Works carry out painting work which is ancillary to day-to-day maintenance works executed by the Office's central building maintenance workshop.
