asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development (a) the date on which the White Paper Programme for National Development 1978-1981 was published; (b) the date on which the Central Bank Report for Winter 1978 was published; (c) the dates on which official statistics became available for (i) retail sales in October and November 1978; (ii) imports of producer capital goods for 1978; (iii) the volume of cement sales in 1978; (d) whether any of these figures are made available to the Department of Economic Planning and Development in advance of their being made generally available by the Central Statistics Office.

The information sought by the Deputy is as follows: (a) the White Paper Programme for National Development 1978-1981 was published on 6 January 1979; (b) the Central Bank Report for winter 1978 was published on 31 January 1979; (c) official statistics were issued for: (i) retail sales in October and November 1978 on 25 January 1979 and 21 February 1979 respectively; (ii) imports of producer capital goods on 28 March 1979 in the December 1978 issue of the Trade Statistics of Ireland; (iii) the volume of cement: sales on 28 February 1979 in the monthly Economic Series release for February 1979.
The figures referred to at (c) (ii) and (c) (iii) by the Deputy are normally available to the Department of Economic Planning and Development, to other Government Departments and to other users on request as soon as they are to hand which may be some time before their issue as part of more general statistical publications. The figures referred to at (c) (i) are issued in special stencilled releases immediately they are compiled.
