Information on the number of houses which will be built by each housing authority in 1979 is not available in my Department. Approximately 80 per cent of all local authority housing schemes are "developed" schemes, that is to say comprising 60 houses or less. Under devolved procedures, it is a matter for each housing authority to determine when individual schemes will start and be completed, having regard to the priority awarded to each scheme in their housing programme and to the capital allocation made to the authority. I am satisfied that with the capital allocations provided, local authority housing completions overall will be of the same order as in 1978, when 6,073 houses were completed.
