Vol. 315 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Schools.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the extension to the Protestant school in Convoy, County Donegal.

Tenders for the erection of the extension to Convoy joint national school, County Donegal, were invited in the public press on Monday 2 June 1979 and the closing date for receipt of tenders is 31 July 1979. If a suitable tender is received, the Reverend Chairman will be asked to lodge the local contribution and the contract will then be placed. It is not possible to state at this stage when work will commence.

Is the Minister aware that a music room that they were using as one of the classrooms has been sold, and that these children have nowhere to go in September? Will the Minister supply a prefab classroom until the extension is built?

That is a separate question.

That would be for the Department of Education.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the new Moyle school, Newtown-cunningham, County Donegal.

The bills of quantities for the proposed new national school are being prepared and the Commissioners of Public Works hope to invite tenders shortly. It is not possible at this stage to say when work will commence.

Is the Minister aware that the bills of quantities were prepared last February? Surely we should be given a definite date as to when it should go out for contract. This has gone on now for four years.

The bills of quantities are now well advanced.

They were well advanced in February.

I hope that the tenders will be invited within a matter of weeks.
