Vol. 315 No. 12

Written Answers. - Child Benefit Allowances.

157.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total amount of child benefit allowances paid to a family of four eligible children: (a) in Northern Ireland and (b) the Republic.

The amount of child benefit payable to a family of four eligible children in Northern Ireland is £16 per week. No allowance is now made for children under the income tax code there.

The amount of children's allowances payable under our legislation for the same number of children is £20 per month. In addition, an allowance of £218 per child is made under our income tax code.
