Vol. 315 No. 12

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

167.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for 22 households at Brooklawn, Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin, which are predominantly occupied by business and professional persons.

Service will be provided when the necessary cabling works are completed early next year.

168.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in Balbriggan, County Dublin.

Service will be provided when the necessary cable becomes available in about six months.

169.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in Balbriggan, County Dublin, and when service will be provided for these persons; the details of any cabling work which may be necessary and the length of time it is envisaged this will take.

The number is 106, of whom some 20 are expected to be offered service shortly. Provision of service for the remainder is dependent on a number of cabling schemes (distribution of local subscriber cables and in some cases primary cabling also) which are scheduled for completion at various dates during next year. It is expected that the necessary cables to serve about 40 of these waiting applicants will become available during the first half of 1980 and the cables for the balance progressively over the remainder of the year.

170.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a telephone service provided for a firm of solicitors (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the urgent need for such a facility.

The firm has a telephone service already but has asked for revised facilities. It is expected these will be provided shortly.
