Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - UK Pensioners.

98.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare, arising out of his reply to Question No. 6 of 26 June 1979, the up-to-date position regarding pensioners in receipt of pensions from Great Britain who, due to the break with sterling and the fluctuation of currency rates, are now losing out financially; and the proposals, if any, for compensation.

Further discussions in this matter took place last Friday between officials of my Department and officials of the British Ministry of Health and Social Security. The proposals made at that meeting are being considered as a matter of urgency and details of the arrangements made will be announced as soon as possible.

Questions Nos. 99 to 105, inclusive, postponed.
