There are at present 208 Indochinese refugees in Ireland. The Government have not decided on any precise figure for the total number of refugees to be accepted here. This depends on a variety of factors including the experience of those already being resettled here, the refugee and humanitarian situation in South-East Asia generally and general information from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on the wishes of the refugees themselves.
