Vol. 316 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disabled Persons' Mobility Allowance.

2.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that the mobility allowance for severely disabled persons between the ages of five and 65 years who are unable to walk is £12 per week in the UK and £3 per week in Ireland and if he will introduce parity of benefit for citizens in the Republic.

I am aware that the UK mobility allowance is higher than the Irish allowance. As this scheme has just been introduced I do not think the amount of the allowance could be reviewed for the present.
