Vol. 316 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Telephone Applications.

393.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin as a matter or urgency on compassionate grounds.

The provision of service for the applicant concerned is dependent on underground cabling works, which, it is regretted, are not expected to be completed until the middle of next year. Service will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary cable becomes available.

394.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephone service under consideration in respect of Clonturk Avenue, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, when such applications are likely to be met in each case and if, in view of the number of elderly people living alone in this avenue, he will give priority to these applications.

There are two waiting applicants, one of whom qualifies for priority attention. Provision of service in each case is dependent on a cabling scheme which, because of the large volume of more urgent cabling schemes awaiting attention, is not expected to be completed until the latter half of next year.
